CEGS 2009 TOUR PEURTO BANUS COSTA DEL SOL Banus (& nipple mountain) Team Photograph Tour Organisers • Golf and flights were all booked by end of January with our Swedish Friends Golf Society doing another good job. • Apologies for the late newsletter, eds record of a year late well beaten. Hope you enjoy a few memories. 2009 GOLF • As usual 5 games of golf were played. Los Noranjos, Rio Real and El Paraisio for the trophies and the fun days at Los Noranjos and Atalya • As usual playing Rio Real we stopped to see if we could see Grants ball up the palm tree on the 16th and look for the twat that knicked his ball on the 2nd!! Day 1 • 10 on tour in 2009, 6 flew out from Scotland, T, Steve, Ed, Alec, Richard, Euk. Beers as usual were going down a treat but Euks beers quickly came up along with his big fry up. Ed wasn’t having a good day and was wishing he hadnt gone out the night before. Day 1 • Scott, Murray, Jeff and Lib headed from down South and the Jesters were soon showing of there new polos. Day 2 • Fun day at Atalya • Days 1 golf saw us start with 10 set of golf clubs and 10 pairs of shoes. However only 9 pairs were with the golf clubs after some grub and beers so I had to go shopping at night and found himself a nice pair of adidas shoes. Scotty boys waterproof also went missing that day. • Founders v the Recruits saw Founders 400 beat 409. Nett average 81 for the 10 scores. Looks like cegs stableford css is about 27!! Day 3 • First official days golf at the excellent Los Noranjos course, always love the view up the 18th from the golf club. • Scotty Boy leads after day 1 with a credible 31 points, Lib 30, T 26 and Mr P 25. Surely none of these guys will miss the cut!! • Richard starts to get wound up playing pool with a 21yr old boy. Day 4 • El Paraisio saw our golf times put back an hour. On the photo im assuming Alec is taking the picture. But where is TC?? Before leaving to go to the golf Scamp against his better judgement left the safe key in Ts control. T I think was in the loo preparing his speech to tell scamp he had left it in the safe door. Scott and Steven ordered a taxi and there they were in the safe door!! Day 4 • TC and Murray bounce up the leader board with rounds of 32 and 31. ‘Steady Lib’ shoots 29, Scotty Boy 23 drops to 3rd and Mr P has a bad day. • Lib leads with 59, T 58, and Scotty Boy 54. Day 4 • Flicks will be always remembered for Euk diving and Euks ‘dislike’ of Bloody Marys!!! Who will ever forget the drawing of the crime scene and the locals joining in for a game of Euk Diving. Day 5 • Who will forget Mr P chatting up the English birds at the swimming pool on our day of rest. How cool he thought he was until someone everyone noticed his swimming shorts were almost up to his boobs!!! Anyone recognise the girl? Day 5 • This moment ive kinda forgotton about, but im sure scott can remind us in a couple of weeks why he thought a jacuzzi and a kids swimming pool look alike. Day 5 Moment to Forget • Words fail me!! Day 6 • A friendly game of golf at Los Noranjos, that friendly that no scores were recorded, Day 7 • The day that Cegs were frowned upon. Whilst everyone was still in there scratchers Potts was up and out for his usual early morning stroll. As he wandered about a group of guys asked if he was golfing today, nope answered potts, I missed the cut. What a bunch of ba*** not letting him play was one of the comments. • So Craig, now you know why Alec never wins the wooden spoon, you’ve got to reach the last round to win it!!!! • So the boys headed of Rio Real for the final round. • T got off to a flyer, Lib then told him he was leading, the pressure then set in. Good tactic Lib!!!! Day 7 • Murray came racing through the pack scoring 34 points despite a 4 from the edge of the green on the 17th. A bad moment for the mugser but another good performance and another 2nd place. • Certainly wasnt a 2nd place finish when we played in Banus in 2008. think half of that note belonged to me!!!! Day 7 • So the 2009 winner was Dave, a steady performance over the 3 days. Other Winners • The doubles were won by T and Steve, Scott and Potts Runners up. • Wooden Spoon Jeff cos potts missed the cut. • Highest earner scott 59 euros. Presentation • The presentation was superb, lots of good stuff but of course the highlight was Jeff and T presenting Euk with a few tips on safety. More • After an hour of waiting with one popodom each an Indian became a chinese. Overall the chinese was a good success over the week. • And so, 2011 is all organised a week to go and the organisers are well organised. • The Bams are in good form and appear confident but have they overlooked recent headlines in the local newspaper!!!!!
