Easter Tour 2002, 29th March - 1st April, Leeds

TOUR REVIEW

A full review of the tour events will appear here in due course.

Friday 29th

Today we were golfing at Sand Moor GC, North Leeds . After good directions by the barmaid we drove to the Holiday Inn Express .   It was a pity our driving was not as good as her directions as it took us ages to find the place

At night we went to the Baja Beach Club

Saturday 30th

Today we were golfing at Marriott, Hollins Hall

At night we went to the Tiger Tiger Night Club

Sunday 31st

Today we were golfing at Bradford GC, Guiseley. It was fortunate we had stumbled across it whilst looking for Hollins Hall on Saturday, but the traffic had a lot to do with this.

At night we went to the Tiger Tiger Night Club & Jumpin Jaks

Monday 1st

After a superb weekend we all made our way back home.

The end of a successful weekend - next years overseas trip will be organised by Grant & Steve.

GIBBERS

Here are some to date. Please e-mail me with others and funny stories so they can appear here.

Ron:- he was addressing golf ball. Several minutes after a photo had been taken - said "Have you taken it yet?"

Jeff ( A new Tourer) was left abandoned at a filling station by Alec on way to Bradford G.C.  Euk had noticed Jeff was not in the car but Alec said "He's with them" (meaning Jules carload). The night before, Jeff had told Murray "I think I'm blending in quite well"  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff After everyone attempted (but failed) to eat badly overcooked chicken at Hollins Hall Hotel "It's no Chicken Kiev, it's more like Chicken Chernobyl"

Jules on the same subject "it's like chicken in a bullet proof vest".

I found this description of Chicken Kiev on the web-
Chicken Kiev,- "A full breast wrapped around a stick of butter and fried until the skin is burnished gold, with only a single bone sticking out the end." I will e-mail this to the hotel chef on your behalf.

Ed, on hearing of the death of the Queen Mother, said "It's not been a very good jubilee year for the Queen" to which Scott replied "I know, not looking like Princess Margaret will see the year out either".

Ed on checking the final doubles placings "Steven and Alec didn't win it (they did by 6 points), it was won by Scott and TC (who weren't even playing together)" He hadn't added up properly.

Jules (On Friday) "Weren't we lucky with the weather, it doesn't feel like April" met with a barrage of "it's not, it's still March"

Waitress in Bradford Golf Club  "You can have apple crumble or maybe merangue" met with a barrage of "no, you're right enough"

Jules hitting his tee shot up wrong fairway and blaming his playing partners.

Alec - On journey home we passed signs on the A1

"149 casualties within next 5 miles in last 3 years"  - 5 miles on -

"158 casualties within next 5 miles in last 3 years"  - 5 miles on -

"167 casualties within next 5 miles in last 3 years"

Alec commented :- "God it is like those old days in the wild west. A sign was outside a town saying "Tombstone" - population 75 - a guy would get shot dead then the undertaker would run out, put a line through 75 and change it to 76" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steven & Euk in conversation -

Euk:    "Who are the 3 on this tour who weren't in Vilamoura?"

Steve:    "The 3 replacements were Jim........... (there is no Jim in CEGS), why did I say Jim?

There is no Jim in CEGS, I don't know anyone called Jim."

Euk in Bradford Golf Club:- When Ron was presented with his baked potato someone asked "How long have you been a vegetarian Ron?" "23 years" said Ron. Euk " How's your coronation chicken Ron?"

Scott coming into the locker room in Bradford "Ewen,(Robertson) I have just walked past your car and heard a phone ring. Does your phone ring like a phone ?
Jeff to Boat " No, it jumps up and waves"

Mugzer on way back to London " Lynne is heading North to Sheffield,so we may see her. There she is in the emergency lane". Boat looks round and sees a Rover broken down on the emergency lane.
Mugzer says "Oh no, carry on, you bought her Rover".

On first green at Bradford Brian asked Jeff, "What did you get?" Jeff replied "A three net four" !!!!
